You can re-edge your green beds to make them crisper, put down fresh mulch, and cut back your perennials so you dont have a big scruffy mess to look at all winter long. Phillip also leaves a 4" stem on his lily bulbs so when he is digging in the spring, he does not accidentally dig into the bulbs. The nurseries generally have 12 price off tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths along with the evergreens used in wreaths and tapestry hedges. Like what you see?

www.facebook.com Phillip Watson, Life Around Homes Gardening Expert, gives us some great tips for winter gardening. Winter is a great time to start and dig up your perennials if they are invasive in your garden. Phillip likes to edit his garden in the winter because he is not distracted by the flowers. It will look great in the spring! Also, if you have small shrubs you would like to move this time of year, Phillip advises only digging up the deciduous ones, in other words the ones that have dropped their leaves. You can also move your needled conifer shrubs. Broad leafed evergreens you need to wait until early spring- they do not like to be moved in the winter. Like what you see?
